The 74th Annual International Conference of the Wildlife Disease Association will be held in Chicago, Illinois, United States. This year’s theme, “Thriving Together: Urban One Health and Ecosystem Resiliency,” highlights the growing importance of addressing wildlife health within increasingly urbanised landscapes.

With more than half of the global population now living in urban areas, developing effective conservation strategies that operate within cities and at human-wildlife interfaces has become more important than ever. In 2026, the conference will emphasise access to cutting-edge research and innovative approaches addressing some of the world’s most pressing wildlife health challenges. It will also promote effective science communication to support informed policy development and encourage public engagement in wildlife conservation initiatives.
