Welcome to the 2022 Wildlife Disease Association Australasian Section's annual conference - our first since 2019. This year the conference returns to the Australian bush in the forests of Kinglake, Victoria.

Our first post-pandemic conference will bring us all together for an exciting scientific program, allowing us to reconnect with friends and colleagues and explore the beautiful surrounds of a forest that has regenerated since the Black Saturday bushfires in 2009. This year we aim to have our first carbon neutral WDAA conference. You can find the preliminary agenda and costs below, a full schedule will be released closer to the dates.

Kinglake Forest Adventure Camp is located less than an hour's drive (60km) north-east of Melbourne airport. Our venue is surrounded by native bushland, is family-friendly and has a variety of activities for everyone including bushwalking, mountain biking, adventure courses and lots of wildlife and bird spotting. The event will be fully catered, but there is also a cafe on-site for those needing barista coffee to start the day! It's close to Healesville Sanctuary, the fantastic Yarra Valley cheese and wine regions and the stunning Dandenong Ranges.

This year we are working on reducing our conference's carbon footprint with the aim of hosting our first ever carbon neutral WDAA conference. We have included a voluntary $25 payment that will be used to offset conference related carbon emissions. To assist delegates in considering this in transport to the conference, we will circulate details of shared transport options from Melbourne airport and city to Kinglake closer to the conference date (please contact us if you have the ability to offer a lift from the airport or city to Kinglake).

We are acutely aware of the unpredictable COVID-environment that we are operating in, and while we sincerely hope that community transmission will be ebbing rather than rising in Victoria, we will be considering everything we can do to lower the risk at the upcoming conference. This includes maximising ventilation within the conference venue and eating outside (weather permitting), using a CO2 monitor to measure ventilation and an air purifier to reduce transmission risk. We welcome your choice to wear a mask to reduce risk to yourself and others.


Prices as below - all are inclusive of accommodation and catering onsite. As we are hiring the entire venue there is no difference in cost for those staying off-site or camping. Accommodation is in shared rooms within the Leadership Centre or in self-contained cabins, and camping is also available on-site. You can view the layout here: Accommodation Layout. Once you have registered you will be able to choose from the available accommodation options.

Field trips may incur an additional cost to be confirmed. Activities are optional and require a minimum number of people to go ahead- you will be reimbursed if they do not occur.

We have received confirmation from the WDA executive that if Australasians join WDA now they will get the discount for the upcoming conference and then receive membership benefits for all of 2023.
